"I don't
exactly
praise the
Quart
Festival,"
says Morten
Harket (44)
to VG.
Yesterday
evening the
a-ha
vocalist was
a guest of
Frithjof
Wilborn on
the summer
television
program «Nettopp
nå» on TV2.
After the
broadcast
from the
harbor
Morten
Harket was
met by
hundreds of
young girls who
wanted his
autograph.
Confused
Morten
Harket is
still
Norway's pop
king - in
spite of the
fact it has
been nearly
20 years
since he and
the band
were on
top. But
his
celebrity
status still has its
down sides,
according to
Harket.
"It gets to
be too much
of a circus.
People get a
bit confused, as
I'm not on
the stage.
It gets a
little messy,"
says a
somewhat
resigned
Harket.
"Would you
like to be
able to go
to the
festival
without
receiving so
much
attention?"
"Of
course! There
is not doubt
I would have
been there,
if only I'd
had a
different
kind of job
(note: i.e.
not a
popular
singer). But
you know, I
am here in
the south of
Norway. I
grew up here
and spent a
lot of time
here
throughout
the years,"
says Harket
to VG.
For the time
being, Harket
is
vacationing
together
with his
family at
his cabin,
which is on
an island in
the Kristiansand
archipelago.
"I am
vacationing
here, and
have been
here every
summer. It
feels like
the most
natural
place to be,"
says Harket.
"And how
long will
you be here
on
vacation?"
"That
depends on
what you
think of as
a vacation.
I am
vacationing
now because
this is when
the children
have their
school
holidays,"
he says.
Solo
Albums
It won't be
long before Magne
Furuholmen
comes out
with his own
solo album.
And Paul
Waaktaar-Savoy
is releasing
a new album
with wife
Lauren and
their group,
Savoy. When
his own solo
album will
be released,
the
44-year-old
will not
say.
"I don't
know. But
I'm sitting
on a lot of
new material,
and I'm at
the stage
now where
I'm
sniffing out
different
producers,"
says Morten
Harket.
