Morten Harket
and East Timor :
In early
1993, Morten has met a Canadian Professor in
Human rights in Monte Carlo who felt
concerned with political problems in East
Timor, which was, for several years occupied
by Indonesians. Timor was suffered from more
and more guerrila wars to get its
independance.
Morten
Harket, as well as Sigurjon Einarsson, have
militated together with José Ramos-Horta
(winner of the Nobel Prize in 1996) for
peace and independance of Timor. Morten has
even written a song dedicated to East Timor
on his second album "Wild Seed".
Morten and
Sigurjon visited twice East Timor. The first
time in 1999 and more recently in 2003. That
last trip has been an opportunity to set up
a documentary for the Norwegian television.
