In 1989, Morten has
decided to go to Brazil and particulary
amidst the Amazon Forest to become aware by himself of the
pollution damage on the Planet and what solutions could be
envisaged.
In 1996, Morten
participated to the making of a « Safari »
documentary for Norwegian television. Indeed Morten Harket
was asked to bring back from South America some very rare
varieties of Orchids for the Floral Park of Oslo. As a consequence, he
went for trekking for several months in Guatemala, Honduras
and Peru with a TV team, experts and local guides. His
friend, Sigurjon Einarsson, left with him as well as
Thor, Bjorn, Ariel and Ulf.

Morten
also gave his support to the Bellona Foundation which

In 2005
Norsk and multinational company HYDRO celebrates its 100th
anniversary. The company has been helding out special
events all over the world such as the free a-ha concert in
Oslo on August 27th 2005. But Morten has been involved much
more than the other members of the band as he agreed to
work for Hydro by promoting the multinational brand all
over the world. As a consequance, on september 27, Morten
has visited Belém in Brazil. He has been invited by Hydro
to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the brazilian
subsidiary, shareholder of ALUNORTE. Indeed, both companies
work together for a common huge ecological project which is
the rehabilitation of the Amazon Forest. Morten has always
been very interested in the Amazonian issues so he visited
the area alongside the Amazon Forest where about 600
different species of trees are replanted to recreate the
bio diversity.
