: Radio and net premiere of "Movies" on November14.
Morten Harket is now ready to release his new solo album titled
"Letter from Egypt" at the beginning of 2008. In the meantime, his
new single, "Movie" will be aired for the very first time on radio
on November 14. Digital and physical release on November 19.
"Movies" will be a cover of '"My woman" song written by the
Norwegian band Locomotives that can be listened onto their
album "Albert" released in 1999. Morten Harket had met the members
of the band in the early 90's and had been struck by their talent.
Nearly 10 years afterwards, he decided to re-write "my woman" to
release it as his new single as "Movies".

01.09.07: Universal
invests for Harket solo
Morten Harket has
signed a contract to release his first English speaking solo album
in 12 years.
This is confirmed by the board director of the a-ha vocalists
companies, Sverre Flatby. He informs that it's the largest record
label in the world, Universal that will now bet on Harket as solo
artist.
- "Like the a-ha contract, this is also an international contract," says Flatby -
"In other words, it's not the Norwegian part of
universal that will handle this release."
According to Flatby, the project art wise, will be a real follow up
to Wild seed from 1995., that never became an international release.
On the other hand, it had tremendous success in Norway. With the
song A Kind of Christmas Card, Wild seed was in the Norwegian charts
of the newspaper VG, for 32 weeks. it's was just as long as a-ha's
debut album, Hunting High and Low from 1995.
Last year a-ha told VG newspaper, that they would proabably be
making more a-ha albums together, but that it would be some time
before that happens and that they wanted to focus on their
respective solo projects until then.
From what newspaper VG knows, Harket has recently been working in
Bjørn Nesjøs studio in Trondheim. where he has collaborated with
Sissel Kyrkjebø's music partner, ketil Bjerkstrand. Large string
arrangements have reportedly been recorded for the album, wich so
far hasn't got a release date.
This news is from the paper version of VG.

12.08.07: Morten sings with the " Harket
Mannssanggruppe"
|
In
addition to being a member of a-ha, Morten is also a member of a
lesser-known group called "Harket Mannssanggruppe" ("The Harket Men's
Choir"). They have a tradition of performing at an annual Christian
fundraiser in a small town called Vennesla
in southern Norway, where money is being raised for a Norwegian
mission hospital in Tanzania called Haydom. (http://www.haydom.no)
Morten joined the choir in 2003, after his uncle Kjell passed away.
In contrast to a-ha, Morten was the youngest member of Harket
Mannssanggruppe in 2003,but it's not the case this year
anymore!
On Sunday 12. August, they once again performed Christian songs in
front of an audience of 500 people.

21.06.07 : Morten at Universal summer garden party.
Morten Harket appeared to only make a short visit when [people from] the music business enjoyed free alcohol in the summer sun, but he returned
later.
On Thursday, the music elite was gathered at Universal's annual garden party, located in the embassy area at Frogner in Oslo. The sun was shining on the idyllic landscape, and unlimited amounts of food and drink lured hundreds of musicians and other guests to the 10th anniversary of Universal's summer
party.
The biggest music star of the evening, Morten Harket, arrived fifteen minutes before the festivities started, and was the first guest of the
evening.
The guards didn't even get time to lay out the red carpet before the a-ha singer arrived. He had to stumble over the folded carpet in order to enter the
party.
The singer hurried into the empty venue, but the festivities appeared to be short - Harket sneaked out the backdoor only half an hour after he had arrived. The star jumped into a waiting car and took off.
Where he drove and whether he would return later was not said. But he was back later in the
evening.

03.01.2007 : Morten Harket sang for
Statoil
From Adresseavisen, 4. January.
Morten Harket performed new material exclusively for
Statoil employees in Olavshallen.
The program is always kept secret from the guests at
Statoil's New Year's concert in Trondheim. Last night,
Morten Harket was the secret surprise guest that ended the
concert for the employees in Olavshallen. Since Princess Märtha
Louise was last year's main guest and read fairytales for
the Statoil employees, Harket was introduced to the
audience as the prince and "Askeladd"(norwagian
of the evening. He was accompanied by Kjetil Bjerkestrand
on piano and TrondheimSolistene.
"We haven't rehearsed that much, so I'm excited",
a modest Harket told the audience before he performed a
slow song, followed by several other newly-written songs.
The Statoil employees became a test audience for the brand
new material, which Harket pointed out was still very
fresh to him. He was met by a big round of applause.
"Thank you. I guess I should go home and continue
writing", Harket smiled to the audience.
(thanks to Jakob Sekse)
